Dover to France (20 nautical miles) -- Sorry this row has been suspended for now due to the new French rules introduced in June 2013 stopping rows in French waters.

We can offer still you and your team a row from Dover to the French boarder and then back to the UK shore. This is the same distance as rowing the Channel (about 20 nautical miles - 37 kilometres) - The fee for this row is £2000 per Gig team - That's for an Adventure Gig with your team of 8 people plus the escort boat and crew to look after you.

We are still trying to sort out permissions with the French authorities for the row to France at the moment.

Is your team up to it? - Are you up for it? - Are you looking to join a team?

This is rowing at it's hardest for long periods in extreme conditions. What a set of challenges!

Welcome to our AdventureRowing -----

We have our own fleet of GRP "Adventure Gigs" (based on the Cornish Pilot Gig and modified by us) available. They are especially prepared by us for long distance open water rowing and long distance racing events such as -- English Channel rows, River Thames rows & Races, plus many other rowing challenges of your choice.

Single boat events or races plus training sessions with our Gigs in sheltered waters and on the sea arranged.

Our registered escort craft are all commercially certificated to the - MCA / RYA Small commercial boat & workboat Code. Our registered escort pilots all hold the required commercial certification. Our vessels and escort pilots are registered with both the British and French Coastguards. Our crew are all trained and experienced in safety cover, navigation and catering for your needs.

The Shorter rows, Like the English Channel - Dover to the French Boarder and back to the UK with a crew of 4 or 6 rowers and a cox. There is room for 8 in the Gig - which allows for an extra rower to be included in the team if you want.

The longer rows like Big Ben to Ramsgate are usually completed with a team of 8 - 10 or 12 rowers; 6 team members rowing and 1 coxing. The rowers usually rotate on a 2 to 4 hour cycle, but it can be set up to however your team want to plan it.

Each row is individually planned depending on what you want to do as a team - A guide starting to the fees is below.

For example: with us supplying an Adventure Gig, plus it's equipment, lifejackets and the escort vessel with crew they start from;

Starting from £31,200 per "Adventure Gig" for a London to Paris, - requires 2 commercially certificated escort vessels - just £2600 per crew member plus the team's personal expenses

From £15,000 per "Adventure Gig" for a London to Amsterdam or Amsterdam to London - requires 2 commercially certificated escort vessels - just £1250 a person plus expenses

£3200 per Adventure Gig for a France (Dunkirk/Gravelines) to Ramsgate or Ramsgate to (Dunkirk/Gravelines) row - teams of 8 usually - (£400 per team member)

£3300 per Adventure Gig for a London to Ramsgate or Ramsgate to London row - team of 12 (£275 per person)

£3600 per Adventure Gig for a Nieuwpoort (Belgium) to Ramsgate or Ramsgate to Nieuwpoort row - teams of 8 usually

£2000 for each "Adventure Gig" for a - Dover to French Boarder and back to the UK English Channel row, That's per team with equipment and escort. £250 each crew member for a 8 person team

(This is the replacement option for the Dover to France Channel row which has been suspended at the moment due to new French laws introduced in 2013 prohibiting rowing in yje Morth East Shipping lane abd French inshore waters.

The shorter courses, like the Neiupoort ( Belguim ) to Ramsgate English Channel Row - The Great river race - are usually for teams of 7 or 8 rowers with 6 people rowing plus a cox and 1 reserve (if you are an 8 team). This gives you the option to change places and take rest periods during the event.

Long distance open water and sea rowing is an "extreme endurance" sport that requires a good degree of fitness and experience. You are taking on the elements in conditions that are often less than perfect. Both rowers and support crews need to be prepared for it's tough demanding conditions and fit enough to take part. We advise team leaders to carry out a full risk assessment and consider the possible conditions the team might be in when assembling their crews and support groups. Small boats and open water create a High Risk situations which, when you then add the rowing, will test the both rowers and support teams to their limits. If you need help and advice with your risk assessment or would like to use / adapt any of our forms please feel free to ask us.
